Buzzard Field Development Project, UK

ALE successfully completed various works associated with the Buzzard Field Development Project. The project culminated with the load-out operation of the QU Deck with a total load-out weight of 11,300te.

Onsite, our responsibilities included re-orientating the completed QU Deck by 90˚ using a carousel operation which was carried out using SPMTs prior to the final move. The QU Deck was transported from the main fabrication facility to the load-out key using 420 axles over a distance of 1km with part of the route on a freshly prepared haul road. We then performed the barge mooring and ballasting operations. Once positioned on the barge and sea-fastened, the QU Deck began its journey to the Buzzard Field, one of the largest North Sea oil reserves.
