Completion of Hail Surface Facilities EPS Project, UAE
ALE has successfully completed the full turnkey scope involving the transportation, load-out, load-in and installation operations for the Hail Surface Facilities EPS Project in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
ALE was contracted to two separate scopes for different clients.
The first scope of work involved the delivery of 44 pipe racks, one slug catcher vessel and two buildings to the project site. The oversized cargo, weighing around 200t each and measuring up to 33.5m long by 12.5m wide and 14.5m high, was transported from Mussaffah to the Hail/Mubarraz Island using various configurations of 40 axle lines of conventional trailers and 40 axle lines of SPMT.
The cargo was then loaded-out onto the ALE250 barge with two tugs, providing the ballasting and sea fastening. The cargo then sailed to Hail Mubarraz Island and was loaded-in. It took approximately four months to complete.
The final phase involved the installation of 19 pipe racks using 40 axle lines of SPMT.
The second scope involved the installation of 25 pipe racks and one slug catcher vessel using ALE’s CC2600 500t capacity crane. Project started on 6th May and finished on 26th June.
This is part of the Hail Surface Facilities EPS Project, involving the onshore work on the islands of Mubarraz and Hail and the offshore works including the installation of three subsea pipelines along with the installation of a composite cable interconnecting both islands.
The project is located in the protected marine area of Marawah, a field which is expected to produce 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) at peak and contribute to Abu Dhabi’s overall target to boost production to 3.5 million bpd by the end of next year.
