Jacking of a coke drum, Mexico
ALE has completed the jacking of a coke drum, weighing 305t, in Tamaulipas, Mexico.
ALE designed and fabricated eight brackets to use as contact points for the jacking equipment. There was limited space available so these were specially-designed to meet the site requirements. Four of the brackets were used for jacking points and four for support points.
The coke drum was jacked-up 330mm from the base in multiple stages.
At each jacking stage, ALE set one horseshoe and one cap on the jack. Jacking timber was also set in place at each stage.
The jacking took place so that the client could perform maintenance activities. Once these were complete, the coke drum was jacked-down back to the base.
