Load-out of a portainer crane, Malaysia

Overview

ALE has completed the load-out of a portainer crane, weighing 950t, in Johor Port, Malaysia.

Services Required

The crane was jacked-up by two 600t capacity jacks and ALE removed the bogies before jacking-down the crane onto a temporary support.

ALE then jacked-up the crane using transport beams and 68 axle lines of SPMT, before rotating the crane 90°.

The crane was loaded-out sideways onto a barge.

ALE had only three days to prepare for the operation, which was completed within one week.

This type of operation is usually performed with long transport beams, but as there were none available, ALE engineered a different system using shorter beams.
