Completion of transport operations on Sakhalin island, Russia

Overview

ALE has successfully performed the offloading, transportation and installation of large drilling and process modules, with weights up to nearly 3,000t, on Sakhalin island, Russia.

Services Required

The project cargo included modules ranging in weight from 90t – 2,700t, and dimensions as long as 80m long, 30m wide and 23m high.

ALE had to consider the weather conditions; therefore, the cargo was received during ice-free seasons in 2016 and 2017.

The modules were discharged from floating barges and transported to a location up to 12km away. ALE used up to 182 axle lines of SPMT, 7 PPUs, and link-span bridges to transport the modules.

The modules were installed using the integral hydraulics of the SPMT trailers.

During the project, ALE had to work in demanding weather conditions and in a challenging environment, as the job site is remote with limited resources and infrastructure. Through detailed execution planning, deployment of an experienced team, and working closely together with the client team throughout the project, ALE was able to progress through the project, moving the cargo safely.
