ALE’s HSQE manager offers guidance to young industry professionals

Overview

ALE’s Global HSQE Manager, Pierre De Villiers, has signed up to mentor the next generation of HSQE professionals.

The members of the ‘Leadership in Risk Management – Next Generation’ group are all young HSQE professionals from across different sectors. The group meetings take place after work hours in Shropshire and members travel from across the country to attend the quarterly sessions as part of their development.

The sessions cover a variety of topics, from the value in HSQE to the business and changing behaviours, to the challenges and successes in the workplace.

“We come across challenges every day in our line of work, but we need to remember to share the successes and positive changes. Since I’ve been mentoring at the sessions, I’ve received really positive feedback from the members who have told me it has given them the drive to continue to push the HSQE message in their business,” explained Pierre.

“This is a really worthwhile opportunity for anyone who is starting out in their HSQE careers and would’ve been really useful if I’d received this kind of guidance when I started out. Whilst the technical foundations are necessary, it doesn’t teach you what you need to know about people. These valuable sessions allow members to share best practice, industry trends and development.”
