Engineering forum generates innovative ideas

Overview

Over 100 new ideas were proposed when ALE hosted an engineering forum in the Netherlands.

In September, 20 of ALE’s global engineering management team gathered in Breda for the biannual forum to discuss the next generation of engineering solutions and technologies.

The two-day event comprised of a mix of presentations, discussions and breakout groups, with an overarching purpose to set the direction and priorities for ALE’s global engineering function.

The discussion topics were diverse, and ranged from establishing effective global storage systems and the most suitable software to aid the engineer, to brainstorming possible new markets and equipment solutions.

Ronald Hoefmans, ALE’s Technical Director, who led the event, commented, “This is a very important event for us, and I am very grateful to everyone who was involved. In the two years since our last engineering forum, we have been able to develop at least five of the proposals which were first put forward at the forum.  This time, I wanted to really leverage the collective brain power of our fantastic engineering community and double our success rate.

Following the forum, a number of working groups have been established to progress some of the proposals in more depth. Each of the new ideas will be evaluated in more detail over the next three months.
