Cliffe Hill quarry crusher relocation, UK
ALE has transported a rock crusher, weighing 700t, in Leicestershire, UK.
ALE were contracted to relocate the primary rock crusher at Cliffe Hill quarry. The crusher was transported 1km to a new production area using 54 axle lines of SPMT. This route involved transporting the crusher downhill on an 8% gradient.
This was both a challenging and unique move, considering the weight of the load, the height of the centre of gravity at 17m, and the steep gradient. During the change from level ground to the gradient the centre of gravity shifted by 1.2m. To overcome this, detailed engineering studies were prepared in advance.
