CO2 Absorber transportation and Installation in Darwin, Australia

Overview

ALE has successfully completed the site transportation and installation of a CO2 Absorber column weighing 605t.

Services Required

The CO2 Absorber, weighing 605t, was received at Darwin’s East Arm Wharf port facility and was transported over 70km on public roads to Darwin’s LNG Plant. Four heavy-duty prime movers and 48 axles lines of hydraulic trailers were used to transport the absorber column.

Once at the site, ALE mobilised its two biggest cranes – the 1350t LR11350 and a 600t capacity crawler crane – to perform the installation operation. The column was rotated from its horizontal position to its final vertical position, before being installed into its foundation. Due to the heavy weight, ALE designed and constructed a bespoke link plate and the whole operated was completed in five hours.
