Gibson Bay wind energy project, South Africa

Overview

ALE has successfully performed the port operations and transportation packages of 37 wind turbine generators (WTGs) for the Gibson Bay wind energy project in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

 

Services Required

The components were received at the Port Elizabeth Harbour over three shipments and comprised of the following components: nacelle, drive train, hub, roto blades, towers and containers.

The components were handled and offloaded using a 250t crawler crane and a 90t mobile crane.

The components were then transported using 4 and 8 extendable trailers, at a rate of two complete WTG sets per week.

The project was completed on schedule.
