Internal movement of two electric transformers, Mexico

Overview:

ALE has successfully performed the jack-up, transportation and jack-down of two electric Transformers at the CC Iberdrola Altamira III y IV Plant in Mexico.

Services Required:

The two transformers were comprised of one ABB weighing 133t and one Westinghouse transformer weighing 333t.

To perform the operations, 20 axle lines of SPT were used, along with two power packs, four lifting jacks and one power pack for lifting.

It took two days for the configuration of each transformer, with one day for the jack-up operation, one day for transportation and hold over temporary supports, and one day for the jacking-down operation.

One of the biggest challenges ALE faced was to negotiate the tight spaces inside the power plant whilst performing the transportation operations to get the transformers into their final position.
