ALE has successfully completed the jacking and skidding of two STS cranes in Terminal Rio de la Plata, Buenos Aires.

The cranes weighed 1218.3t and 1138t. Both were 65m high,16.4m between legs and 18.5m between sides.

The manoeuvre required the jacking and skidding of the two cranes from their operation site on the quay rails to a parking area where an extension to the boom was made.  The cranes were then skidded into their working position and jacked up on the quay rails.

The equipment used included eight skid-shoes weighing 90t, eight double-skids, 180t, 120 metres of skidding units, eight push pull jacks weighing 25t, two power packs with 10 and 35 litres capacity, and four 10t bracing systems.
