Lifting of conveyor, Australia
ALE has lifted a bauxite conveyor, weighing 110t and measuring 50m long.
ALE was requested to replace the main bauxite conveyor which had collapsed and fallen 40m to the ground. The new conveyor, which weighed 110t and measured 50m long, needed to be lifted by a crawler crane to an elevation rising from 27m on one end to 40m on the other end. This was accomplished whilst the plant was still operational.
The main challenge of this job for ALE was to fit the crane into a suitable operating area that would be capable of performing the lift. ALE provided engineering support to ensure that the crane could physically fit into the area to perform the lift.
This was the single biggest lift to occur at the client’s refinery since the construction of the plant 45 years ago.
The project was completed on schedule and within the client’s budget.
