Load-in of 17 structures as part of the Shell INDE Project, UK
ALE has successfully loaded-in 17 structures as part of a nuclear decommissioning project in Wallsend, UK.
ALE was contracted to load-in and transport eight jackets, eight topsides and one bridge from eight different barges.
Each structure varied in weight. The jackets weighed between 800 – 1,600t, the topsides weighed between 400t – 1,200t and the bridge weighed 80t.
The structures were loaded-in from barges using many different combinations of SPMT, with a maximum of 56 axle lines on site at any one time.
ALE also undertook the barge mooring and ballasting operations for each load-in.
All structures were loaded-in within three months.
