Transportation of 11 OOG power plant modules, Kazakhstan
ALE has successfully transported 11 out of gauge (OOG) power plant modules from Kuryk to Karabatan in Kazakhstan.
The OOG power plant modules ranged in weight, with the heaviest coming in at 93t.
ALE transported up to nine modules simultaneously in one convey in order to minimise any potential disruption. This also helped to ensure the timely delivery of the turbines, generators and supporting equipment.
The modules were transported up to 1,800km in a round trip using 52 axle lines of conventional trailers with a gooseneck. During the transportation, ALE faced the challenge of traversing numerous unpaved roads. They also had to prepare for a steep uphill gradient of 12% and negotiate the limited spaces through the cities along the route.
