Solan Development Project, UK
ALE has performed the site movement, weighing and load-out of a jacket, weighing 10,415t, and topside, weighing 5,314t, for the Solan oil field in the North Sea, Scotland.
To weigh the jacket ALE utilised 32 600t weightors. The jacket was self-loaded using 368 axle lines of SPMT, where it was transported 200m onsite to the quayside edge.
To weigh the topside ALE utilised 16 600t weightors. The topside was self-loaded using 224 axle lines of SPMT, and was then transported from its construction location to the quayside.
Once at the quayside, ALE used their in-house ballasting system to keep the barge level during the load-out onto the awaiting barge. Once the pieces were secured to the barge they then sailed separately to their offshore location in the North Sea, west of the Shetland Islands, for installation. This was the same for both the jacket and the topside.
