Transformer delivery, Ireland
ALE has delivered a transformer, weighing 345t, to a power station in County Clare, Ireland. This is the largest transformer ever to be transported in Ireland.
The transformer arrived from Italy and was received from a heavylift vessel on SPMT on a pontoon at Foynes Port.
The pontoon then sailed from Foynes Port, across the across the Shannon estuary to Moneypoint Power Station jetty, where it was rolled off with the SPMT on a ramp from the Ro-Ro pontoon.
The transformer was transported through Moneypoint Power Station to the substation using 16 axle lines of SPMTs in a configuration of 4 file 8.
Once on site, the transformer was offloaded onto jacks, jacked- down and installed to plinth.
