Transportation and lift of a 194t transformer, Australia
ALE has transported and lifted a transformer, weighing 194t, in Killingworth as part of the Transgrid Substation project.
The transformer was received under the ship’s hook at the Port of Newcastle and was transported 45km to the Transgrid Killingworth Substation using 18 axle lines of SPT.
In order to comply with permit requirements, the load was transported during the night-time hours and three prime movers were required to follow the load at all times.
Once the transformer had arrived on site, the trailer was manoeuvred into position and the transformer was offloaded using ALE’s 450t Lift ‘n’ Lock hydraulic gantry system.
