Efficient transportation of container cranes ensures swift operation in Chile
Reduced mobilisation costs
ALE has utilised its engineering expertise to minimise disruption while completing the cost-effective transportation of two container cranes, weighing 1,327t each, at the Terminal Pacífico Sur in Valparaíso, Chile.
Mobilisation costs on the operation were reduced as ALE was able to draw on local equipment, showcasing their flexibility by using stools and mats to adapt the equipment to the transportation’s requirements.
ALE completed the manoeuvres using 48 axle lines of SPMT with two transport beams mounted on them.
As the Terminal Pacífico Sur is such a busy port, it was crucial to keep disruptions to a minimal. ALE’s experience in similar operations enabled them to transport the first crane 300m in four hours, followed by the 600m transportation of the second crane in just 1.5 hours.
