Transportation of an electric shovel, Australia
ALE has successfully transported a 1,400t electric shovel within the Bowen Basin area of Queensland, Australia.
The 1,400t electric shovel was moved approximately 35km using 54 axle lines of SPMT.
As the onsite transportation had to be scheduled around the removal of powerlines to adjoining mines, ALE needed to ensure there was a swift turnaround by utilising the most time-effective method of relocating the electric shovel. ALE completed the transportation in seven days while overcoming the challenges that are part of working on an operating mining site.
Movements of this nature, involving large mobile plant on SPMTs, results in significant savings in maintenance of the running gear of the plant and in down-time of high-value equipment on operating mine sites.
