Transportation of stators to AH Cambambe II Hydroelectric Power Plant, Angola

Overview

ALE has transported four stators from Luanda port 300km to AH Cambambe II Hydroelectric Power Plant, Angola.

 

Services Required

Every stator was divided into 4 pieces, weighing 62t each. The transportation of stators was performed using multi-axle conventional trailers with a prime mover, including 12 axle lines of conventional trailers with gooseneck in a 2 file 6 configuration linked to the high powered MAN TGX41.580, as well as 16 axle lines of conventional trailers in 2 file 8 configuration linked to the Mercedes Benz 4165 SLT 8×4. In consideration of the challenging slopes faced on the route, ALE utilised the most suitable transport configuration for the piece. By using this equipment and these configurations, ALE could cross all structures using only one prime mover, without risk of overloading.

 

Because of the nature of the route, ALE needed to travel on the opposite side of the road on many occasions throughout the journey. Subsequently, ALE coordinated with the local authorities (INEA) and the Angolan police so they could guarantee the safekeeping of the equipment and crew whilst ALE was transporting the stators on this route.

 

ALE performed a total of 16 moves for the job, as well as other conventional transport movements with lighter pieces. This was the final stage, which saw ALE deliver a total of four stators in two stages over a period of 14 months. This was part of the AH Cambambe II expansion project, in which the hydroelectric power plant will be able to deliver approximately 960MW.

 

 

Transporte de estátores a la central hidroeléctrica AH Cambambe II, Angola

 

Resumen

ALE ha transportado cuatro estátores desde el Puerto de Luanda hasta la central hidroeléctrica de Cambambe II, a 300km de distancia.

 

Servicios Requeridos

El transporte se realizó con tráiler hidráulico multieje convencional junto con cabeza tractora. La configuración utilizada fue 2 líneas por 6 ejes convencional más gooseneck, conectado a una cabeza tractora de gran potencia MAN TGX41.580, y 2 líneas por 8 ejes convencionales conectados a la cabeza Mercedes Benz 4165 SLT 8×4. De esta forma se conseguía cruzar todas las estructuras sin peligro de sobrecarga y realizar el transporte con sólo una cabeza tractora.

 

Debido a la naturaleza de la ruta, ALE tuvo que viajar en algunas ocasiones por el carril contrario lo que provoco que tuviese que coordinar con las autoridades locales (INEA) y la policía angoleña todo el transporte garantizando la seguridad del equipo y el personal.

 

Cada uno de los 4 estátores se dividió en 4 piezas de 62t, realizándose un total de 16 transportes, además de otros transportes convencionales con piezas de menor peso, realizados todos ellos en dos etapas a lo largo de 14 meses. Las maniobras realizadas por ALE forman parte del proyecto de ampliación de la planta hidroeléctrica de AH Cambambe II que tendrá una capacidad total de 960 MW.
