Upending of 67 monopiles for the North Sea, Germany

ALE has installed 67 monopiles for the Veja Meta wind farm project at the North Sea, Germany.

Services Required

This was the first job for the brand new Scylla Sea jacks vessel and the monopiles ranged between 1,157t – 1,304t and had a diameter of up to 7.8m and a maximum length of 84.8m

Five months beforehand, ALE prepared for this operation by carrying out transport arrangements, risk assessments, maintenance protocols and an inventory of liquids and solid materials including safety documents which matched the client’s specifications.  Before executing this operation, the client provided additional training to all ALE personnel involved.

ALE performed the upending using 36 axle lines of SPMT. As this was an offshore operation, the SPMT were utilised with a full offshore package to ensure less of wear caused by the offshore environment.

It took five months to upend the monopiles.
