ALE has performed the transportation of three cranes, weighing 1,800t each, and one crane, weighing 1,250t, at a container terminal at the Port of Algeciras, Spain, using load-out and load-in techniques.
ALE transported the three 1,800t cranes from the East Pier to the North Pier and the 1,250t crane from the South Pier to the North Pier. Each of the STS cranes was transported using 88 axle lines of SPMT. They were supported by four transport brackets, which ALE installed inside the cranes.
The cranes were loaded-out onto a vessel. They were attached using specialist sea fastening that ALE had designed. For the load-in, two Ro-Ro ramps were used to bridge the gap between the vessel and the loading pier. By completing the transportations by sea, ALE was able to minimise disruption at the terminal.
