ALE has completed the jacking and load-out of a satellite platform, weighing 2,570t, in Astrakhan, Russia.
ALE jacked the topside to 1.5m and carried out the weighing. The client was then able to integrate skid beams in between the topside and the deck-support frame below. ALE had to design a complex engineering procedure as the limited space available meant the operation could not be performed with forklifts or cranes.
The project was made more efficient as instead of weightors, ALE used hydraulic pressures and flow rates for measuring the weight of the topside. This is part of the first phase of ALE’s heavylifting scope for the Korchagin oil field development project in Russia.
