ALE has performed the launching of a bridge, weighing 1,800t, over the Júcar River in Valencia, Spain.
ALE designed a launching solution that meant the bridge only needed to be reinforced in specific areas, rather than the entire structure. This also reduced the amount of civil works needed. This saved time, as well as making the whole operation more cost-effective.
ALE manoeuvred the steel arch bridge, measuring 200m long, in 16 phases using 120 axle lines of SPMT in pairs under the previously installed supports. This reduced the need for configuration changes and did not exceed the permissible tautness limits of the bridge. The SPMTs were relocated to prevent any interferences from the abutment, piles or river.
