Logistic and engineering expertise
ALE has negotiated a complex route path and saved time whilst performing the heavy transportation and load-out of the Johan Sverdup bridge at a fabrication yard in Stavanger. The route from the fabrication facility to the harbourside involved many obstacles and challenges, such as tight corners and long structures. At 1,400t, the sheer size of the bridge amplified these challenges.
Utilising their in-house engineering and logistical expertise, ALE engineered a solution that avoided these obstacles and allowed the route to be completed safely. The bridge was transported using 64 axle lines of SPMT by a team of skilled supervisors and operators. Once it was loaded-out onto the barge, ALE performed the ballasting using their bespoke, quick-operating ballast pumps. By using these quick pumps, it enabled ALE to save one day from the expected project schedule. The complete load-out operation took just four hours.
