Australian campaign encourages positive mental health and greater teamwork

ALE’s Australia branch is again taking part in R U OK? Day, a national day of action held every September that encourages connections and conversations to support better mental health.


The national campaign is organised by R U OK?, a non-profit suicide-prevention organisation, and is helping companies like ALE to provide a safer and healthier workplace for employees. Organising events and initiatives around the day contributes to inspiring a culture of openness, and this can lead to more efficient teamwork and operations.

For the workplace, R U OK? looks to educate employees on how they can reach out to support colleagues who could be struggling. It empowers people to ask, “Are you OK?” and encourages long-term behavioural changes for more positive wellbeing overall.

Michael Mulvenna, Regional Director – Australia, Asia and South Asia, said, “ALE’s Australia branch has been taking part in R U OK? Day for a number of years now. We spend a lot of time with our colleagues and this year R U OK? has especially encouraged people to look for signs that someone might need support. It’s important that employees can have an ongoing dialogue so they feel able to perform at their best when they come to work.”

This year, R U OK? Day is taking place on Thursday 12th September.
