A smarter solution to shorten FPSO and FLNG module integration schedules
The size of FPSO and FLNG modules built onshore is growing as the industry recognises the efficiency benefits of building bigger. But a key challenge presented by this trend is how heavy lifting technology can evolve to facilitate the installation of these super-sized items.
ALE has delivered just this for many of the world’s biggest projects, including the world-record 3,000t module lift for the Petrobras P-74 FPSO using the AL.SK350 crane. We have since developed and launched the SK10,000 which is capable of lifting individual modules of up to 10,000t and has enabled new levels of project efficiencies in schedule certainty, reduced risk, increased safety and cost reduction for our clients.
The huge outreach and lifting power of ALE’s SK cranes allows modules to be fabricated at greater size onshore and lifted directly from the yard onto the hull, minimising project time and the need for other equipment and work on site. The unique design of the SK cranes also offers important advantages in terms of site optimisation through the compact central ballast format and reduced disruption with the ability to fully rig and operate the crane off-plot.
